The journey for peace will span a lifetime, but today in Columbia, South Carolina a group of Buddhist Monks shared that voyage with thousands of supporters. Diversity. Union. Peace.
Citizens of all walks of life, gathered as the largest crowd since the Monks began their pilgrimage on October 26, 2025 in Fort Worth, Texas.
In this labyrinth to Washington, DC they are opening the light. They are exhibiting resilience and steadfastness. Some are walking barefoot for over 2,300 miles. One brother has even had to have his leg amputated. And yet they press forward with loving kindness.
The path is not easy, but it’s worth it. This is life!
It was an honor to be apart of this historical moment. It also caused me to reflect on this past summer in Las Vegas, Nevada when a Buddhist Monk gifted me a Kāiguāng amulet. Today made that moment much more meaningful.
The NOH8 Campaign and movement began in 2009 by fashion photographer Adam Bouska and his partner Jeff Parshley.

But let’s stay Focused on the Fit! Saturday, November 18, 2023 was so magical. Opening Day of the Carolina Native’s exhibition at the Columbia Museum of Art. The ceremony was beautiful, fresh flowers adding elegance to the setting. Champagne open bar because I had to raise a glass to the occasion.
Before the moderated discussion began, The City of Columbia proclaimed November 18, 2023 as Sergio Hudson Day & also awarded him the Key to the City!
Accolades so well deserved for such a beacon of light.
The conversation began with the beautiful Megan Pinckney Rutherford moderating, Sergio’s client and friend. The chemistry was magnetic and the discussion was brilliant.
“What he’s proven time and time again is that he is a master of his craft. He uses his rolodex of style references from his upbringing right here, to make women feel strong, sophisticated, and sexy.”
Because of their genuine relationship, the dynamic allowed for Sergio to be transparent about the barriers many designers of color face. He expressed how important it is for him that his brand builds legacy! And speaking of legacy, I love the way he lights up as he speaks about his beautiful mother, Apostle Sheldon Hudson. Sergio was helping her slay the girls for Sunday Service since 5 years old. Fashion Week may be chaotic but Sergio has ultimately been preparing for this his entire life. Sergio was organizing runway shows and approving choreography as a teenager when his sister Tonya would model. I had the pleasure of meeting his handsome husband Davon Kennard, he was so kind as I congratulated him on the couple’s union.
As the conversation progressed Sergio’s team joined, which consists of: Co-Owner Inga Beckham and Co-Creative Director Charles Lynch. In order to achieve major success it’s imperative that you build a solid team.
As Lynch reflected on his journey of meeting Sergio in college all the way to their first Met Gala ball client, he revealed how the journey was not as plain as design school had made it. Sometimes the window of opportunity is not always available, sometimes neither is the front door, sometimes you may have to take the back. Which they really had to take the back door to enter the Met as it was during Covid and Lynch was unable to get his Covid test. So as great creatives do in crisis, they improvise.
Beckham planted a seed that we as Sergio Hudson supporters must water, she projected that in the future Sergio Hudson will be a brick and mortar. I look forward to a nice glass of champagne as I’m having a custom fitting with the designer.

Eric Ferrell was an Icon in American History . Responsible for the behind the scenes beauty of some of the most legendary female artists in the business . His contribution to the makeup industry had such a major impact . Eric Ferrell was the man behind the beat of the Princess of R&B Aaliyah . His vision of beauty & magical makeup brushes also touch the faces of all the royals in Hip Hop & R&B . We must remember his legacy as he also was the lead creative for the MAC x Aaliyah collection that launched in 2018 .

I was invited to a tasting where I was able to be the first to try Iconic Grammy Award winning singer, The Queen Mary J. Blige’s new wine named after a childhood name she was given by her mother because of the connection she always had with the sun. Sun Goddess has a delicious Pinot Grigio that is crisp and light bodied, it has a slight white fruit and peach flavor. I enjoyed the Sauvignon Blanc with it’s crisp flavors of banana and melon, it is light bodied as well.

Florida Artist Ray Louis took a trip to the Carolinas to visit family but he couldn’t leave the city without blessing us with some NU music . Seeing the versatility as an artist & also the work ethic , as he recorded two fire tracks in less than two hours . First recording No Time , a melodic tune that the ladies would definitely enjoy . As we all experience this brief intermission in life, have you taken a moment to self reflect? I strongly advise to use this time that we all tremendously needed, this break, this opportunity to be still. Although we are social distancing i still recommend putting a pause on social media as well. This is a moment of self-evaluation, prioritization, planning, and ultimately preparing. The shift into this new decade has made me face my insecurities and the only thing I can say to myself is “BE CONFIDENT”. Confident in my goals, confident in my ideas, confident that the way I invest my time & energy it will reflect in my future.
How do you want this time to reflect in your future?! Spend this time doing something productive, like learning how to cook, or learning a new recipe. Working out is also a habit to get into that could show great results in the future. Study or research some topics that excite you. Read!

I could feel the sense of relief & gratitude. I can only imagine how overwhelming but extremely exciting it is preparing for NYFW. Sergio’s debut was an absolute success, the room was packed from wall to wall. The victims included college baseball coach John Altobelli, his daughter Alyssa Altobelli and wife, Keri Altobelli; girls’ basketball coach Christina Mauser; mom Sarah Chester and her 13-year-old daughter, Payton Chester; Pilot Ara Zobayan; and 13-year-old Gianna Bryant.

Thursday evening the Historically Black College, Claflin University, located in Orangeburg, South Carolina hosted a live podcast recording of ON ONE WITH ANGELA RYE. The CNN Political Commentator interviewed Mayor Pete Buttigieg about his plans in office if he is elected as President this upcoming November.
The interview took place at Minister’s Hall, the same exact location President Obama spoke in 2007, a local resident informed us. Angela stated that she wanted to interview Mayor Buttigieg because of The Douglass Plan.

This includes reforming broken criminal justice and health systems, strengthening access to credit and injecting capital into the Black community, and taking bold steps toward fulfilling long-broken promises of true equity.
Being that Mayor Buttigieg only has a 2% Black Vote in South Carolina, the discussion was very insightful for locals but also all Americans that may be interested in knowing more about the Plans, Policies, & Acts that he plan’s to implement as President of the United States of America.
Equity was an important word used in the interview, shit people tired of struggling. Working all day & night to live mediocre unfulfilled lives. Mayor Buttigieg was candid about the disparities in income and wealth. The Mayor is not for CANCELING STUDENT LOANS … something I need done like yesterday! When Angela asked him about his support for the HR40 Bill designed to study reparations proposals, she wanted to know if he would include equity beyond study & this is what he said
“There has been generational dispossession of blacks since 1619 which is directly connected to the dispossession today, compounded by the effects of slavery which ended TWO, AND ONLY TWO lifetimes ago. And if the Federal Government funded these harms, we have to fund a way to mend what has been broken.”
Angela grilled him about his 21st Century Homestead Act stating that the Homestead Act of 1862 gave access to land to 1.6Million White Americans and only 6000 Black Americans were given access to land. When asked about funding HBCUs, Mayor Pete really talked circles around the question.
Mayor Buttigieg stated that he & his husband — oh yea that’s the tea cause if he win we gone basically have 2 Presidents, I mean his husband is a school teacher he should have great insight on how to touch the youth — want to have kids and will have to go through a process therefore he’s all for egg freezing & IVF being covered by Health Care.
Angela ended the interview by asking what black women would he absolutely need on his Cabinet in the White House and here were a few names dropped… Dr. Susan Rice, National Security. Mayor LaToya Cantrell, New Orleans. Stacy Abrams. He added that his Cabinet will be 50% female.

Democratic candidate, Senator Kamala Harris presented A Plan to Address the Mental Health Care Crisis in America, to residents of Berkeley County Monday afternoon in South Carolina’s Low Country. Her goal is to Provide Mental Health Care on Demand.
THE PLAN
FOCUS FEDERAL FUNDING ON NEEDED MENTAL HEALTH RESEARCH: Kamala will direct federal funds to seek better treatment for mental health and research on mental health issues more broadly, including research on Adults with Serious Mental Illness (SMI), and the use of interventions that Reduce Homelessness, Arrest, Incarceration, and Unnecessary Hospitalization.
EXPAND COVERAGE OF AND ACCESS TO MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES: Through her Medicare For ALL Plan, Kamala will deliver mental health care on demand via telemedicine, providing care by phone or video to ALL Americans whenever and wherever they need it — all without deductible copays. A shortage of mental health professionals harms American families and communities. It also drives provider stress and burnout. Kamala will authorize an educational loan forgiveness program for mental health professionals that agree to practice in areas with a shortage of providers.
INCREASE ACCESS TO HOSPITALS, HOUSING, AND OTHER CARE FACILITIES: Kamala will double the number of treatment beds nationwide, prioritizing states with shortages, including Iowa, Nevada, South Carolina, and Michigan, so persons with mental illness can receive the high levels of care they need. She’ll repeal the Institutions of Mental Disease (IMD) exclusion, which precludes Medicaid funding for adults receiving care in psychiatric facilities with more than 16 beds and has exacerbated a severe shortage of acute psychiatric care beds nationwide.
FOCUS ON VULNERABLE POPULATIONS: Double US Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs (VA) research dollars to address and treat PTSD, Military Sexual Trauma, and Traumatic Brain Injury. Invest in evidence-based screenings for childhood trauma — including the fact that poverty is trauma-inducing — to diagnose and treat mental health as early as possible.
END THE MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS-TO-JAIL PIPELINE: Kamala will expand Crisis Intervention Team Training, which integrates Specialized Police, Mental Health Professionals, EMS, 911 Systems, and Hospital Emergency Rooms in response to mental health crisis calls.
The Oakland Native and Howard University Grad discussed her Plan of Action with Charleston Native, Radio Personality, Television Personality, and Author, Charlamagne Tha God. Charlamagne is major advocate for receiving the proper treatment for Mental Health, stating that not only is it important to hit the gym a few times a week to care of his body but it is also priority to attend weekly therapy sessions every Friday to maintain the health of his mind. As Charlamagne has been able to access the causes of his anxiety and peel back the layers of his own Mental Health, he was able to have a discussion with his father who expressed that he once tried to commit suicide. The conversation stemmed from Charlamagne’s 26 year old cousin that committed suicide before Thanksgiving last year. We must send our condolences to the family as it is approaching the anniversary of such a traumatic experience. Charlamagne had a transparency moment, expressing how Mental Health is neglected in his own family, his mother thinking his father was only pretending to be crazy to receive a check (which is extremely common in the African American Community). Also expressing that that was not his cousin’s first suicide attempt but his fourth!
Charlamagne thanked Senator Harris for not only speaking on the subject matter that is so often swept under the rug, but actually generating a plan, unlike any of the other Presidential Candidates.

Michelle Williams and Charlamagne Tha God are transparent about their personal battles with depression and anxiety. Michelle advocates with the message on her T-Shirt and very vocally that “Therapy is Cool”. Michelle explains how she still has to deprogram from depression she has been dealing with since age 12. Being in the spotlight isn’t always about photoshoots, redcarpets, music videos, and concerts, those are simply the reels that are presented to the mass, we don’t always get to see the other 23 hours of your favorite celebrity’s day, even if we do follow them on social media. Charlamagne Tha God makes it clear that social media is an illusion, and expresses that he’s been diagnosed with anxiety since 2010.
Charlamagne says that Howard Stern is not the bar and he doesn’t agree with the comparison that he’s the “Hip Hop Howard Stern”, and makes it very clear that social media is only 3% of people’s real life, “It’s only the highlight reel.” I admire his persistence, being fired from 4 radio stations and one in which I interned at, I have that much more respect for his ability to evolve and grow while at the same time battling with personal issues that the public isn’t even aware of. Being self aware is what makes him so powerful.
Therapy is highly suggested because it is so overlooked in the African American community, allowing one to release the anchors of their past that are holding them down so that they could find freedom and acceptance for who they are. I asked “How do you have so much confidence and courage while also battling the mental health crisis?” Both said to DO THE WORK, & Charlamagne said do it for YOURSELF.

Soulful Songstress & Dreamville’s First Lady Ari Lennox is very VOCAL when it comes to expressing her opinions on many social topics and how she feels as an artist.
