Emotions were intense backstage after luxury clothing designer Sergio Hudson closed out the first official night of New York Fashion Week with an incredible show. The South Carolina native shed tears of joy with all his loved ones & supporters, I could feel the energy as his mother held him in her arms & whispered words of POWER into his ear — speak life into your children!
Sergio Hudson Collection was established in 2014 & since he has been designing for high profile clients such as Forever First Lady Michelle Obama, Beyonce, Zendaya, and you may have been 1 of the 99.9 million people that watched the Super Bowl LIV where singer Demi Lovato wore his pieces as she sang the National Anthem.
I could feel the sense of relief & gratitude. I can only imagine how overwhelming but extremely exciting it is preparing for NYFW. Sergio’s debut was an absolute success, the room was packed from wall to wall. This season of Sergio’s luxury ready to wear is indeed for the powerful woman, his inspirations not only for this collection but as a designer all together come from a list of powerful women, such as Angela Winbush, En Vogue, Whitney Houston, Anita Baker, Lisa Fischer, Sade, Tina Turner, Stephanie Mills, Regina Belle, Pebbles and most certainly his mother. He also collabed with Saga Furs for a few quality pieces, Opal Stone Designs for accessories, and shoe designer Jessica Rich. I cannot fail to mention Co Creative Director Charles Lynch, together him & Sergio make a powerful team.
